The play Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder was written in 1939 by the German dramatist and poet Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956), with significant contributions from Margarete Steffin. It has been produced on the stage and television, as well as in film. 

Judith Spencer will lead a discussion of the play.  Please read the play before attending the event so you can come prepared to take an active part in the discussion, which will be in German. Judith Spencer is a former lecturer in German and long-standing member of BGS. She is chair of the Bath-Brunswick Twinning Association.
