We meet every Wednesday for German conversation between 12 and 2pm. The regular members of the Wednesday meeting are of differing levels, and include many ex-teachers who naturally have a very good level of German, but also includes some German speakers of an intermediate or beginner level. This weekly event generally attracts between 8 and 18 people and also acts as a friendly, sociable group. It is an ideal environment in which to practise your German.
Due to the logistics of finding space the venue for Stammtisch varies. Please let us know if you would like to be included in the Stammtisch email list to receive a weekly update of the location.
During the winter we normally meet at Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution in Queen Square, Bath. Although there is a small entrance fee, free coffee and tea is provided. Please bring your own lunch if you wish to eat.
However, the location varies because a room is not always available to us at BRLSI. Our alternative venue is Hall & Wodehouse, which is situated at 1 Old King St, Bath BA1 2JW, and very close to BRLSI on the road just off Queen Square at the back of Milsom Street. It offers a good variety of food. However, there is no obligation to eat and you can just have a coffee.
In the summer we generally meet outside at the Holburne Museum garden cafe if the weather is fine.
